Top 5 time. And, what better way than to just jump right in…

This group is one of those that you discover over a sleepless night, when the brain won’t shut down, when you’re left to just close your eyes and listen restlessly. And then it is possibly months or years before you listen to them again, possibly during another restless night. What a rediscovery! Especially digging back to a certain time period (Set Yourself On Fire and In Our Bedroom After The War) when the music is just perfect, and the sentiments are just as likely sensiments (a word I just made up, comme William Shakes- I mean – Sarah Palin). What better way to begin, than with such a powerful closing statement: “When there is nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire.”

I think the most notable thing about Stars when you listen to them is the give-and-take of the two singers, Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan, complementing each-other well, which makes me hope that their live performance will replicate, or perhaps even exceed that.
